Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Vanga (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Vanga mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Data: When you Sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier and, depending on your choice at sign-in, either your real email or an Apple private email relay address (ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com). Apple forwards messages sent to a relay address to your real inbox; we never see the underlying address. You can revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Sign in with Apple.
  • Birth Data: Date, time, and place of birth that you provide for natal chart computation. We treat birth data as sensitive personal information and store it encrypted at rest.
  • Conversation Data: Messages you send to and receive from the Vanga astrologer.
  • Connection Data: Birth data of other people you add for compatibility readings.
  • Subscription Data: If you subscribe, we receive transaction metadata from RevenueCat (our subscription management provider): product identifier, purchase date, renewal date, and entitlement status. Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store them.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Analytics: Session frequency, feature usage, and engagement patterns. You can opt out in Settings.
  • Device Information: Device type, OS version, and app version for debugging and compatibility.
  • Push Notification Tokens: If you enable notifications, we store your device token to deliver transit alerts.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Compute your natal chart and planetary transits using astronomical ephemeris data.
  • Provide personalized astrological guidance through the conversational interface.
  • Remember your history and preferences to improve readings over time (the “Memory” feature).
  • Deliver transit notifications you've opted into.
  • Improve the Service through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on encrypted servers hosted on AWS. Conversation data and birth data are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. We use TLS 1.3 for all data in transit.

5. AI and Language Models

Vanga uses DeepSeek as its language model provider to generate astrological guidance. Your conversational messages are sent to DeepSeek for response generation. We do not share your name, account identifier, or full birth data with DeepSeek — only the conversational context (your message and recent turns) needed to produce a response. Per DeepSeek's API terms, conversations sent through their API are not used to train their models.

6. Data Sharing and Subprocessors

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following subprocessors, each of which is bound by a data processing agreement and uses your data solely to provide its service to Vanga:

  • DeepSeek — AI language model for generating astrological responses (conversation context only).
  • Clerk — user authentication and session management (Apple user identifier and email).
  • RevenueCat — subscription state and transaction tracking (purchase metadata only).
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — encrypted hosting, database, and storage of all user data.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification service, and In-App Purchase processing.
  • Sentry — crash and error reporting (technical diagnostics; no conversation content).
  • Law enforcement only when legally compelled by a valid request.

7. Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights over your data. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland also have rights under the GDPR; users in California have rights under the CCPA (see Section 9 below).

  • Access and export: Request a full export of your conversation history, memories, and birth data from Settings → Privacy Controls → Export My Data.
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate birth data or other profile fields from Settings.
  • Erasure: Delete all your data including the Apple identity link, conversations, memories, and birth data from Settings → Privacy Controls → Delete All Data. Deletion is permanent and irreversible; backups containing your data are purged within 30 days.
  • Portability: Your data export is provided in a structured, machine-readable JSON format.
  • Opt out of analytics: Disable usage data sharing in Settings.
  • Withdraw consent / lodge a complaint: You may withdraw consent for processing at any time by deleting your account, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

Vanga is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us at info@vanga.chat and we will delete it.

9. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you additional rights:

  • Right to Know what personal information we collect — documented above in Section 2.
  • Right to Delete — exercisable through the in-app deletion flow described in Section 7.
  • Right to Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell your personal information,and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the prior 12 months and have no plans to. No opt-out is required because no sale or behavioral-advertising sharing occurs.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination for exercising these rights.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
